1. Our Fundamental Privacy Pledge
Radix is designed specifically for elementary, middle, and high school learners, their educators, and their families. We treat student privacy as an inviolable ethical boundary. Our business model relies on voluntary family subscriptions and school district licensing—not data extraction, advertising networks, or tracking algorithms.
2. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Under COPPA, operators must obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children under 13. Radix complies through the following mechanisms:
- Minimal Data Collection: We do not require children to provide real names, addresses, phone numbers, or social media handles. Learners may practice using pseudonyms or anonymous session IDs.
- School Consent Mechanism: When used in an instructional setting, schools and teachers act as the parent’s agent in consenting to the collection of students’ learning progress data under COPPA guidelines.
- No Third-Party Sharing: Children’s practice data is accessible solely by the student, their verified classroom teacher, and authorized parents who redeem a secure invitation code.
3. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Radix acts as a “School Official” under FERPA with a legitimate educational interest in the student education records entrusted to us by schools:
- Student educational records remain the exclusive property of the school or district.
- We maintain administrative, physical, and technical safeguards (including Row-Level Security in our database) to protect student records.
- Upon termination of a school agreement, all institutional student records are permanently purged within 30 days upon written request.
4. Strict Family Access Code Protocol
To prevent students from inadvertently exposing their learning data or sending unsolicited invitations, students are strictly prohibited from generating share codes or connecting adult profiles.All family access codes must be generated by a certified classroom teacher or school administrator through the secure teacher dashboard. Each code is single-use and automatically expires within 24 hours if unredeemed.
5. AI Composition Studio & Model Privacy
When learners use the Radix Studio to write original sentences with target roots, the sentences are submitted to secure, enterprise API endpoints with zero-data-retention guarantees. Student submissions are processed ephemerally to return grammatical and morphological feedback. They are never added to training datasets or used to fine-tune artificial intelligence models.
